The driveway to Prat Long is situated off the D600, between the small villages of Vindrac and Marnarves, on the outskirts of the hamlet Labarthe Bleys, and 5 kilometres north of the famous medieval hilltop town of Cordes-sur-Ciel.
It is ideally placed for exploring the many splendid bastide, or hilltop, villages and towns of the region; the spectacular rivers and gorges, and the panoramic views across the Gaillac vineyards and the Gresigne forest.
This is a rural area and still retains an authentic feeling of unspoilt France. The weather is noted for its long hot summers. Spring and autumn are perfect for walking holidays. In winter, the far reaching views can be spectacular.
This area is well served by good road, air and rail links.
The nearest motorways are the A20 (exit 58 S.Cahors: exit 59 Caussade), or the A68 (exit 9 Gaillac).
Rodez and Toulouse airports, have regular flights serving this region, and are both just over an hour away by car. Hire cars are available from both airports.
Toulouse has excellent rail connections to Paris or Lille, to the coastal resorts or inland France. Cordes-sur-Ciel has its own station at Vindrac making it easy to get into Toulouse, or Villefranche de Rouergue to explore the Aveyron, without taking the car. However, to appreciate this area fully, a car is really advisable to make the best of your holiday.
The Pyrenean ski resorts are a good 2½ hours drive from here, as are the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts.
