The route to Prat Long

Welcome to Prat Long

Whether you require a self-catering holiday, or bed and breakfast accommodation for a night or two, we would like to welcome you to Prat Long (Long Meadow), where you can relax and enjoy your surroundings in our small and friendly family run guest house.

Prat Long is situated 5kilometres from the amazing medieval hilltop town of Cordes-sur-Ciel. The house is at the edge of the Gresigne Forest, amongst the softly rolling hills in the pretty Cerou river valley.
The location of Prat Long is ideal for exploring an area famous for the Gaillac vineyards and the many stunning hilltop (bastide) villages including Cordes, Najac, Monesties, Penne, Bruniquel, Puycelci and Castelnau-de-Montmiral, all within a short drive.

Albi, 30kms from Prat Long, the capital of the Tarn department, is a fine old town on banks Tarn, with many elegant shops and restaurants in quaint medieval streets. The outstanding cathedral Basilica Sainte Cecile, the Bishop’s Palace and Toulouse Lautrec museum, with their rose coloured bricks, dominate the skyline.

The picturesque river gorges and spectacular views make it a wonderful place for photographers, painters, walkers, naturalists and ornithologists. The ancient oak Gresigne Forest has well marked tracks for walkers and cyclists, and there are plenty of opportunities for various sporting activities in the local area, especially during the summer months on the Aveyron and Tarn rivers. The nearby Gaillac vineyards, some of the oldest in France, provide excellent opportunities for wine tasting.

At Prat Long, numerous birds, butterflies and insects can be seen about the gardens, fields and woodlands. Deer, wild boar, hares and red squirrels sometimes make an appearance too.
The area has an abundance of birdlife and wild flowers, including snakes head fritillaries, orchids and cowslips which are prolific in the spring. In summer the fields of sunflowers, amongst the vines, are truly spectacular.
Ceps, girolles and blewit mushrooms are commonly found in the woods and at the roadside during their particular seasons.

Enjoy this beautiful area, for the wines, the history and excellent food at any time of the year. Whatever the season, be sure of a warm welcome at Prat Long.
